Tmux Cheatsheet

Basics

• Start new session: tmux or tmux new -s session_name
• Attach to session: tmux attach -t session_name
• List sessions: tmux ls
• Detach from session: Prefix + d

Prefix Key

• Default: Ctrl-b (C-b)

Windows (Tabs)

• Create window: Prefix + c
• Next window: Prefix + n
• Previous window: Prefix + p
• Rename window: Prefix + ,
• Kill window: Prefix + &

Panes (Splits)

• Split horizontally: Prefix + %
• Split vertically: Prefix + "
• Navigate panes: Prefix + arrow keys
• Resize pane: Prefix + hold arrow
• Kill pane: Prefix + x
• Zoom pane: Prefix + z

Copy Mode

• Enter copy mode: Prefix + [
• Exit: q
• Copy: Space to start, Enter to copy

Other

• Reload config: Prefix + r (after binding in .tmux.conf)
• Kill session: tmux kill-session -t session_name
